– – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – –[– – – – – – – – – – – – – τὸν γ]ρ̣α̣μ̣ματέα Διοφάνου[– – – – – – – τὴν ἐπιδ]ημίαν πεποιημένον εὐτάκτως[πᾶσ]α̣ν χρεί[α]ν παρασχόμενον ὃν τρόπον ἐπέβαλλεν·[τῆ]ς̣ δὲ ἀναγορεύσεως τῶν στεφάνων ἐπιμεληθῆ–[να]ι τοὺς ἐν ἐκείνωι τῶι ἔτει στρατηγοὺς καὶ τὸν[ἀ]γωνοθέτην· ἀναγράψαι δὲ καὶ τὸ ψήφισμα τοῦτο[ε]ἰς στήλην λίθου λευκοῦ καὶ ἐνχαράξαι τοὺςστεφάνους καὶ ἀναθεῖναι ἐν τῶι ἐπιφανεστάτωιτόπωι πρὸ τοῦ δικαστηρίου· ἵνα δὲ καὶ Κῶιοι εἰδή–σωσιν ἣν ἔχει ὁ δῆμος προαίρεσιν, δεδόχθαι ἀ–ποδεῖξαι πρεσβευτὰς δύο, οἵτινες ἀφι–κόμενοι εἰς Κῶ τό τε ψήφισμα ἀποδῶ–σιν καὶ ἐπελθόντες ἐπὶ τὴν βουλὴν καὶἐκλησίαν καὶ ἀσπασάμενοι παρὰ τοῦ π–λήθους εὐχαριστήσουσιν Κώιοις ἐπὶτῇ ἀποστολῇ τῇ τοῦ δικαστοῦ καὶ παρακαλέ–σουσιν αὐτοὺς φίλους ὑπάρχον{τα}τας δια–τηρεῖν τὴν πρὸς τὴν πόλιν ἡμῶν εὔνοια–ν, {αν}ἀναγράψαντας δὲ καὶ εἰς στήλην λίθουλευκοῦ τόδε τὸ ψήφισμα καὶ ἀναθεῖναι ἐν τῶιἐπιφανεστάτωι τόπωι τῆς πόλεως· v εἱρέ–θησαν πρεισβευταὶ Σωκράτης Πολεμοκρά–του, Δίφιλος Διφίλου. ἀνηνέχθη Ἀλσείου τρια–κάδι ὑ<π>ὸ τῶν πρεσβευτᾶν ἔχον ἐπίσαμονζῴδιον γυναικεῖον.

Diophanes- - - der seinen Aufenthalt in wohlgeordneter Weise gestalteteund alle Pflichten erfüllte, wie es sich gebührte;dass für die Verkündung der Kränze Sorge tragendie Generäle in diesem Jahr und derFestspielveranstalter; dass man auch diesen Beschluss aufzeichneauf eine Stele aus weißem Stein und die Kränzeeinmeißle und sie aufstelle auf dem hervorragendstenPlatz vor dem Gerichtsgebäude; - Damit nun auch die Koerdie Gesinnung erfahren, die das Volk hat, möge man beschließen:dass man zwei Gesandte bestimme, die nach ihrerAnkunft in Kos den Beschluss über-geben und vor den Rat und die Volkversammlungtreten und Grüße ausrichten von (unserer) Bevölkerungund sich bedanken bei den Koern fürdie Entsendung des Richters und an sie,die Freunde sind, die Bitte richten,das Wohlwollen gegenüber unserer Stadt zu bewahren,und auch auf eine Stele aus weißem Steindiesen Beschluss aufzuzeichnen und (sie) zu weihen an demhervorragendsten Platz der Stadt. Es wurden gewähltals Gesandte: Sokrates S.d. Polemokrates,Diphilos S.d. Diphilos- – Überbracht im Monat Alseiosam dreißigsten von den Gesandten, mit einerweiblichen Figur als Siegel.
- - -- - - the secretary - - - son of Diophanes- - - has made his stay in good order,supplying every need in the proper way;the proclamation of the crowns is to be seen toby the generals of that year and theagonothete; and to inscribe this decreeon a stele of white stone and carve thecrowns on it and erect it in the most conspicuousplace in front of the courthouse; and so that the Koans mayknow the policy that the people has, it is decreed toappoint two ambassadors who will travelto Kos and deliever the decreeand go before the council andassembly and convey greetings from thepopulace and thank the Koans forsending the judge and call uponthem, as friends, to maintaintheir good will toward our cityand also to inscribe this decree on a steleof white stone and erect it in themost conspicuous place in the city.
